Pinterest Inspired Living Room

When we spotted this living room by HGTV, we loved all the bright colors, accessories, and the fact that it actually looks lived in. Plus, the two side tables serving as a coffee table in the middle of the room reminded us of some pieces we recently added to our selection at Divine Consign!

Alright, let's take a step backwards and start with a rug. That blue hippy-ish/traditional rug in the inspiration photo is super awesome. Here are our favorite look-a-likes from the Surya catalog (any of which we can order for a special price - contact us for details).

We have a really similar Ethan Allen sofa in our showroom right now (sans the black piping - oh well).

It's simple, compact, and comfy. We were sold! :)

We have several "fall-colored" accent pillows in our store right now, but we were craving something brighter, like in the photo!

5 Ways to Update Your Sofa

Ahh, spring. Finally you are able to open our windows, breath in the fresh air, look around our home sanctuary and then BAM! You see it, your boring old sofa just sucking the new life out of your space.

You have a couple options including buying a new sofa, but not everyone has the budget for this. And maybe your sofa is just fine but needs a decorating tune-up!

1) MOVE YOUR SOFA - sometimes it really is this easy. There are so many ways to organize your furniture in your room to give it a fresh start - get a helper and start schlepping away!

2) REUPHOLSTER YOUR SOFA - Is your sofa in good condition (maybe just needs a little stuffing) but the fabric is a goner? It costs a little more, but having your sofa reupholstered by a professional will make it look better than new - it'll be custom! (Divine Consign can help too - we have an in-house upholsterer!).

3) PURCHASE (or make) A SLIPCOVER - Basic budget-friendly slipcovers can be purchased at your local home decorating store, or they can be custom made. Can you sew? There are tons of slipcover patterns out there - give it a try!

4) REPLACE THE BACK & SEAT CUSHIONS - Okay, okay, maybe reupholstering your sofa or having custom slipcovers made is going a little overboard for you. Your sofa is just fine, just boring! How about covering or replacing just the back and seat cushions to create a whole new look?

5) ADD SIMPLE COLOR & TEXTURE - Easy & Cheap (not you, silly, your sofa). Decide on an accent color for your room, take a quick shopping trip, and outfit your space with simple pillows & throws to make your sofa look as good as new!

Propelled toward the window I flew like a flash, tripped over a broken table and an old drapery sash!

The moon on the crest of the new fallen snow, gave a luster to the junk pile where our old sofa should go.

When upon what did my wondering eyes begin to stare, but that old dining table and those eight folding chairs.

With a little screwdriver and some duct tape to stick, I realized my "repairs" would not do the trick.

More rapid than eagles, to the conclusion I came, I thought DIVINE CONSIGN and then yelled out their names.

The man had a broad face and a little round belly, I took him out so fast he was nothing but jelly.

Oh, there's a sofa so plump and a cherry bookshelf, I had to have it so I approached it with stealth.

I moved slowly but quickly and didn't turn my head, if someone knows I want it, I'll have something to dread!

I spoke not a word but went straight to my work, filling out "sold" tags while smiling a knowing smirk.

No more using my fingers to plug up my nose, as I walked by that chair that belonged to Aunt Rose!

I finished shopping and to the delivery team gave a whistle, and away we all flew like an old NASA missile.

As the delivery team finished and drove into the night, I happily exclaimed "Thanks DIVINE CONSIGN my house looks just right!"
